Hakone Museum of Art

This museum, which opened in 1952, is the oldest of its kind in Hakone. The main exhibition room displays collections of Japanese earthenware and ceramics from the BC period to the Edo Period (1603 - 1868). Visitors can enjoy both the artworks and the natural surroundings, as the Hakone mountains can be viewed from the large windows. The garden in front of the museum has an appeal of its own, as two hundred maple trees change their colors in November, painting the scenery in red. There is also a tea room where visitors can enjoy matcha tea and sweets while viewing the garden, which offers a different scenery every season.
