The Hakone-Yumoto Station area along Japan National Route 1 (Tokaido), also known as the “Hakone Highway,” is a shopping area with a selection of unique Hakone souvenirs. There are over 30 shops here that sell parquetry, a handicraft with different-colored wood designs, dried fish products, shiokara (a type of fermented food), umeboshi (pickled dried plums), and more. There are also several shops serving Hakone specialties, like grated yam soba, sweet dumplings, and hot spring buns. You won’t have a problem finding a place to eat. Come find your favorite meal and shop at the entrance of Hakone.
