Odakyu Hotel de Yama / Azalea

There is a rich profusion of vivid azalea flowers from early to mid-May in the Odakyu Hotel de Yama garden. This garden is a portion of what was succeeded from the villa of Baron Koyata Iwasaki (1879-1945), the fourth president of the Mitsubishi Group. The garden utilizes its gentle slopes and is designed to integrate the azaleas into its surroundings, allowing one to enjoy a contrast between Lake Ashi, Mt. Fuji, and the azaleas. Old azalea varieties created during the Edo period (1603-1868) are preserved here among the nearly 3,000 flowers and 30 azalea varieties. You will be able to experience not only outstanding scenery, but the significance of accumulated history here in this garden.
