Scheduled buses are convenient for sightseeing in Hakone. There are several different routes, so be sure to check the bus's destination before boarding.

Various shapes and types of bus stops
Each bus stop displays the various bus destinations and directions they are heading for, so please check carefully before boarding. Each bus stop also displays route timetables.

At the bus stop
Check where buses are bound for and your destination. Line up at the bus stop and wait for the bus. Buses will stop when passengers are standing at the bus stop.
   
   
Front door
Get on the bus from the front door
The bus's destination is shown on the side of the bus, so check the destination before getting on. If you don't know the destination, please ask the driver. Get on from the front door; pay the fare when you get off.

Show your Freepass to the driver when you get on.

When you get on the bus, take a boarding ticket from the ticket dispenser at the entrance. You will need the boarding ticket for paying your fare when you get off.

Seats
There are no reserved seats on buses. Priority seats designated for use by seniors, mothers-to-be or persons with disabilities are provided. Please give up your seat to passengers in need.

When you press the buzzer for signaling you want to get off, it will display a red light.

As the bus approaches each stop, the name of the stop lights up on the fare chart at the front of the bus. When your stop is next, press the buzzer to let the driver know you want to get off. If no one is standing at the bus stop, the bus will not stop unless you press the buzzer, so be sure to keep an eye on the fare chart and listen carefully to the recorded announcements so that you don't miss your stop.

Show your Freepass to the driver when you get off.

Checking the fare

If you are not using a Hakone Freepass, check the number on your boarding ticket against the fare chart at the front of the bus before getting off. Your fare is the one shown under the number that matches the number on your boarding ticket.
Paying the fare
When you get off, place the fare corresponding to the one on the fare chart in the fare collection box along with your boarding ticket.

※Credit cards are not accepted. Payment is in cash only.
※The fare collection box does not make change, so if necessary please obtain change before getting on the bus.
